Decisions: what is still true

Settle what is true on a board, and let agents work from it.

A board collects a lot: notes, ideas, old plans. To an agent they all look equally true. A decision says which ones are.

Mark an item as a decision

Open the item and choose Mark as decision, under the title bar. It starts On record: written down, not established yet. Agents can record decisions too, when one comes up while they work.

The four states

  • On record: recorded, not established. Agents never treat it as decided.
  • Settled: what the board holds as true. Agents read only these as true.
  • Replaced: it was settled, then a newer decision took its place. It stays on the board with its history.
  • In dispute: two decisions disagree. Neither counts until you resolve it.

Each decision has a key: the question it answers, such as "database-engine". A board has at most one settled decision per key, so two answers to the same question cannot both be true.

Settle, replace, dispute, resolve

The actions are in the item's window:

  • Settle makes a decision on record true. Add why, if you like.
  • Replace with... puts a newer decision in its place. The new one is settled and takes over the key.
  • Dispute sets it against another decision. Both show as in dispute.
  • Resolve: keep this one ends a dispute. The other side is replaced.

The board owner and guests who can edit make these changes. Each item shows its state as a small badge on the board.

What agents may do

Agents read your settled decisions at the start of every session, and the disputes as both sides. They can record a decision and propose to settle, replace or dispute one. A proposal always waits in the board's Inbox, at every freedom level, even Full. Only your accept changes what is true.

Receipts

Open Receipts in a decision to see every change: who recorded it, which agent proposed what, and who decided. Listspace keeps these in a ledger that can only grow. Each entry is sealed with the one before it, so a changed or removed entry shows. Every time you open the receipts, the whole ledger is checked again and the result is shown: Verified, or where it broke.

Deleting a board deletes its ledger with it. Deleting an item keeps the ledger and notes that the item was deleted.
