Why ListSpace

A list is the simplest way to get something out of your head: to-dos, ideas, books to read, things to buy. A space is somewhere that belongs to you. ListSpace puts the two together: boards full of lists, private until you share one. It does what you need every day and leaves out what you don't.

Why I built it

I built ListSpace because the tools I tried were either too rigid or full of features I never used. I wanted one calm place to jot down a thought, sort it into a list, and see it move.

It started as my entry for the Bolt Hackathon in 2025 and took a few weeks, partly because it was my first real project built with AI. It now runs on our own server in Europe (Netcup), and I use it very often.

What it does now

Everything below works today and is free to use. What comes next is on the roadmap.

  • Boards and lists

    Make a board for each area of your life or work, and a list for each stage or category on it.

  • Cards with checklists

    One card per task, idea or note. Break a card into checklist steps and tick them off.

  • Due dates and reminders

    Give a card a due date, and get a morning email on days when something is due or overdue.

  • Labels

    Put colored labels on cards and filter a board to show only the cards with a label.

  • Files

    Attach files and images to cards. They sit in private storage.

  • Comments

    Add notes to a card as comments, with formatting.

  • Calendar and table views

    See the cards of a board by due date on a calendar, or all of them in a sortable table.

  • History

    See what changed on a card and when.

  • Export

    Download one board or all your boards as CSV or JSON.

  • Trello import

    Bring a board from Trello along with its lists, cards, checklists, labels, comments and attachments.

  • Read-only sharing

    Share one board through a link, with an optional password. Turn the link off whenever you like.

  • AI assistant connector

    Connect Claude or ChatGPT over MCP and ask what is due, or have the assistant add a card.
