Project memory: one project in ChatGPT and Claude Code

Project memory: one project in ChatGPT and Claude Code

To keep one project between ChatGPT and Claude Code, keep the project in a place both of them read and write, outside either app. Listspace is that place: one board that ChatGPT, Claude Code and your other AI apps read when a chat starts and keep up to date while you work, so the next chat in either app starts from the same state.

That state is what project memory means here: what is done, what is in progress, what comes next and what you decided, kept apart from any one chat.

Four things that look like project memory

Chat history is what was said in one conversation. It stays in the app where the chat happened. Claude Code does not see your ChatGPT chats, and ChatGPT does not see your Claude Code sessions.

App memory is what ChatGPT or Claude saves about you, such as your preferences. You can view and edit it in the app's settings, but it lives inside that one app, and at the time of writing no other vendor's AI can read it. It sits apart from the project, it does not know which decisions still hold, and it has no lists or status to give you an overview.

A task list holds what needs doing. Unless your AI is connected to it, you copy it into each chat by hand, and it does not say what you decided.

Project state changes every day, and every AI on the project needs the same version of it. That is the part Listspace keeps, as lists and items with their status, and decisions that say what still holds.

Set it up in three steps

  1. Connect both apps once. Paste Set up Listspace for me: listspace.app/connect into ChatGPT and into Claude Code. ChatGPT needs Plus or higher. In Claude Code, it shows you each command and asks before it runs one. You sign in to Listspace in your browser, never in the chat. The setup page shows every screen.
  2. Make one board for the project. In either app, describe the project and ask your AI to make a board for it. New accounts start at agent access level 4, Act: your AI adds, edits and moves items, and completing or archiving an item waits in the board's Inbox for your OK.
  3. Work in one app, then switch. Listspace asks each AI to read the board when a chat starts, keep it up to date while you work and leave a short summary at the end. Plan in ChatGPT, then open Claude Code and ask it to pick up where you left off on that board. It reads the open work, the confirmed decisions and the last summary, and carries on.

Listspace is invite-only while it is in beta, so join the waitlist first if you have no invite. The guide Plan in ChatGPT, build with Claude Code shows each click for both apps, and the connect page lists every app that connects.

What stays with you

Each app has to be connected once, and only a connected app reads the board. A decision, such as a price or a launch date, only counts once a person confirms it, and every AI you connect works from the confirmed ones. Every change shows who made it, you or which AI.

How Listspace remembers explains the decisions in full, and Why Listspace explains why the board lives outside each app.
