Listspace vs Trello

Trello and Listspace look alike: boards, lists, and things to do on them. The difference is who keeps the board up to date. Trello is made for people moving cards. Listspace is made for you and your AI working on the same board.

Checked October 2026. What it says about Trello is true at the time of writing, from the maker's own pages, listed at the end.

Who each is best for

Choose Trello if

  • You want apps for iPhone and Android.
  • A team of up to 10 people works on the free plan together.
  • You want built-in automation and a large set of add-ons (Power-Ups).

Choose Listspace if

  • Your AI should keep the board up to date while you work, in any app you use.
  • You want to decide, per board, how much your AI may change on its own.
  • Several AI agents work on the same project and must not take the same work.

Connect your AI

About even
Listspace
Claude (every plan, Free included), ChatGPT (Plus or higher), Claude Code, Codex and Cursor connect by signing in. Other AI apps can connect with a personal token.
Trello
Yes. Trello's official connector (an MCP server) works with ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI and other AI apps, on every Trello plan.

What your AI may do on its own

Listspace is stronger here
Listspace
You pick a freedom level from Read only to Full, for your account and for each board. What the level does not allow waits in the board's Inbox until you accept or reject it. You can undo an agent's change from History.
Trello
The AI acts with your Trello permissions, which you grant once when you connect. It can archive cards, not delete them. There is no Inbox to approve changes first.

Two agents on the same project

Listspace is stronger here
Listspace
On Pro, an agent asks for the next item and claims it in one step, so two agents never take the same work. You see which agent is working on what.
Trello
The connector reads and changes cards. It has no way for an agent to claim a card or ask for the next one.

Automation

Trello is stronger here
Listspace
No rules of its own: your AI does the upkeep. Listspace can also send a signed message to a program you run when something changes.
Trello
Built-in automation runs rules and buttons when something on a board changes.

On your phone

Trello is stronger here
Listspace
A simpler page on phones. The full app runs on a computer or a tablet. A phone version is on the roadmap.
Trello
Apps for iPhone and Android, included on the free plan.

Teams

Trello is stronger here
Listspace
Made for individuals and small teams. On Pro, you invite up to 5 guests to a board, such as a client, with no paid seat. A Team plan is coming soon.
Trello
Free for up to 10 collaborators per Workspace. Paid plans are per user.

Price

About even
Listspace
Free to start. Pro is €7.99 a month, or €6.99 a month paid yearly, VAT included. There is no AI fee: it uses the assistant you already have.
Trello
Free plan. Standard is $5 and Premium $10 per user a month, billed yearly ($6 and $12.50 billed monthly).

Working with AI, in plain words

With Trello's connector, you ask your AI to read or change a card and it does, with your permissions. That works for a quick question. It does not give you a say in what the AI changes when you are not looking.

In Listspace your AI reads the board when a chat starts and keeps it up to date without being asked. You set a freedom level per board. At Suggest, every change waits in the Inbox. At Capture, the default, your AI adds ideas, bugs and notes, and everything else waits for you.

Decisions are the other part. When you agree on a price or a date, it becomes a decision on the board, and it only counts once a person confirms it. Every AI you connect reads the same confirmed decisions.

Moving over is one step. Listspace imports a Trello board from its JSON export, with its lists, checklists, labels, comments and attachments, and every card becomes an item.

Try it with your own AI

Listspace is free to start. Connect Claude or ChatGPT, and ask it to make a board for what you are working on.
