Listspace vs Basecamp

Listspace is a board for you, a small team and the AI you already use. Every AI you connect reads it and keeps it up to date, and what you have not allowed waits in an Inbox for your OK. Basecamp is made for running projects with a team and clients: to-dos, message boards, chat, a schedule and Card Tables in one place, at a flat price with no per-user fees. For a company that runs its projects and client talk in one tool, Basecamp is the stronger choice.

Checked October 2026. What it says about Basecamp is true at the time of writing, from the maker's own pages, listed at the end.

Who each is best for

Choose Listspace if

  • You want each item on a Timeline, with dependencies, on the Free plan.
  • Your AI may change things, and you want to approve what it changes, board by board.
  • Decisions should stay on the board, and only count once a person confirms them.
  • Several AI agents work on one project and must not take the same work.
  • You want your boards and files stored in the EU, on every plan, Free included.
  • You want to start on a Free plan, with the AI you already use.

Choose Basecamp if

  • A team and its clients work in one place, with messages, chat and files next to the to-dos.
  • You want one flat price, with no per-user fees.
  • You want your AI to read Basecamp without changing anything: read-only access is a choice when you connect.
  • You want apps for iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows.
  • Your coding agents should work in it from the command line, with an official tool and an agent skill.

What your AI may do on its own

Listspace is stronger here
Listspace
You pick an agent access level from Read only to Full, for your account and for each board. What the level does not allow waits in the board's Inbox until you accept or reject it. You can undo an agent's change from History.
Basecamp
When you connect, you choose read-only or full access. With full access your AI acts as you, with no Inbox to approve changes first.

Two agents on the same project

Listspace is stronger here
Listspace
At agent access level 4 (Act), on every plan, an agent asks for the next item and claims it in one step, so two agents never take the same work. You see which agent is working on what.
Basecamp
Its pages describe no way for an agent to claim a to-do or ask for the next one.

Timeline

Listspace is stronger here
Listspace
A Timeline view on every plan, Free included: each item is a bar from its start date to its due date, and an item can depend on another one.
Basecamp
The Lineup puts every project on one timeline by its start and end dates, and to-dos with dates show on the calendar. Its pages name no timeline or dependencies for the to-dos inside a project.

Connect your AI

About even
Listspace
Claude (every plan, Free included), ChatGPT (Plus or higher), Gemini, Grok, Lovable, Bolt, Claude Code and Codex connect by signing in. Cursor and other AI apps can connect with a personal token.
Basecamp
Yes. Basecamp's connector (an MCP server) works with ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Grok, Claude Code, VS Code and other AI apps, free with every Basecamp account. Basecamp 5 adds an official command line tool, an agent skill and a wider API, so Claude, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor and other agents can do anything you can do in Basecamp.

Price

About even
Listspace
Free to start. Pro is €7.99 a month, or €6.99 a month paid yearly, VAT included. There is no AI fee: it uses the AI you already have.
Basecamp
Free for 1 project. Paid plans are a flat price a month for everyone, with no per-user fees. The AI connector costs nothing extra.

Made for

Basecamp is stronger here
Listspace
Made for individuals and small teams. You invite a guest to a board, such as a client, a colleague or your partner, with no paid seat: 1 per board on Free to view or comment, up to 5 on Pro with any role. Team, for 2 to 50 seats, is in beta and not open to the public yet.
Basecamp
Teams and their clients. Free has 1 project, 1 GB and up to 5 users. Paid plans are a flat price a month, with no per-user fees.

Talking it over

Basecamp is stronger here
Listspace
Comments on items. No chat or message board of its own.
Basecamp
Message Boards, Campfire chat and Automatic Check-ins, next to the to-dos.

On your phone

Basecamp is stronger here
Listspace
Open your boards on your phone, read only, in a layout made for a small screen. On Android, Listspace can also sit in the share menu, so a page, text, photos or a PDF you share becomes an item. iPhone does not allow that for web apps. You make other changes on a computer, a tablet or through your AI. A phone version that does more is on the roadmap.
Basecamp
Apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, and for Mac and Windows.

Working with AI, in plain words

Basecamp's connector lets your AI do almost anything you can do in Basecamp: to-dos, message boards, Card Tables, the schedule, docs and search. You choose read-only or full access when you connect, and it is free with every account. Basecamp 5 calls itself agent first: coding agents get an official command line tool and an agent skill for to-dos, cards, messages and the schedule. If you only want your AI to read and update Basecamp, start there.

Listspace starts from the AI you already use. Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor connect through Listspace's MCP server, which asks them to read the board when a chat starts, keep it up to date while you work, and leave a short summary at the end, so the next chat in any of those apps picks up from there.

You decide how far that goes. An agent access level per board, from Read only to Full, sets what an agent changes on its own, and everything else waits in the board's Inbox for you to accept or reject. Decisions, like a price or a launch date, only count once a person confirms them, and every AI you connect follows the confirmed ones.

Moving over is one step. Listspace imports a Trello board from its JSON export, a Notion database from its export, Obsidian notes, or a CSV file.

Try it with your own AI

Try Listspace for work you plan with your AI: items with dates on a Timeline, an Inbox for your OK, and decisions that stay on the board.

Listspace is free to start. Connect Claude or ChatGPT, and ask it to make a board for what you are working on.
